Commissioners for oaths
Commissioners for Oaths
As Christians we do not agree with swearing an oath on the Bible but for those having religious (or other) objections to swearing an oath, it is possible to instead affirm the oath (which has exactly the same legal effect): we are happy to assist with affirming oaths or affidavits or with making statutory declarations.

The Standard Commissioner's fees are £5 for each oath, affirmation or declaration plus an additional £2 for each and every exhibit.

You would not normally need a formal appointment, but it is a good idea to telephone beforehand to make sure that someone will be available. Please bring with you suitable proof of your identity.

Important Covid-19 announcement regarding this office
Following the recent Government announcement, we are now taking steps to move towards a return to working in the office. For the time being, until all of the arrangements can be put in place, we will still be working from home wherever possible without jeopardising security or privacy in accordance with Data Protection requirements. In the circumstances, we are not yet able to arrange any face-to-face meetings so no clients or visitors will be seen at the office.
